Full Mouth Rehabilitation in Portland, OR

Occlusal disease is caused by a misalignment between the teeth of the upper and lower dental arches. If left untreated & unmanaged, occlusal disease and can damage your teeth, the supporting bones and gums, and even the temporomandibular joint. Many people dismiss excessive or abnormally accelerated tooth wear as natural aging or wearing of teeth, however, multiple studies have shown that normal wear to your teeth should be ~11 micrometer/year. This means that only about 1 millimeter (thickness of a penny) of tooth wear is expected after 91 years. Luckily, there are treatments that can alleviate the pain and discomfort caused by occlusal disease.

While most dental services can be rendered to a single tooth without needing to make adjustments to any other teeth, in certain situations, this is not possible. If you have abnormal wear on many teeth, or if your bite scheme is such that it puts undue stress on a few teeth, it may be possible that you require dental rehabilitation that involves all of your teeth.

Full mouth rehabilitation is an advanced dental procedure that involves careful review and analysis of how your existing occlusion (how your teeth fit together) could have contributed to occlusal dysfunction, and how we can change your teeth to get a more stable and less abrasive bite to help it last a lifetime.
